ClaimLock
Check every claim in your draft against your own sources.
ClaimLock audits a draft against source texts you provide. It identifies checkable claims, proposes evidence passages, and uses an offline script to check whether quotations, numbers, and dates match the supplied sources word for word.
What It Does
- Extracts claim-bearing sentences from your draft.
- Matches proposed evidence passages to your named source texts.
- Checks quotations, figures, and dates against the supplied sources.
- Flags unsupported statements, mismatches, overstatements, weak evidence, stale claims, and altered quotations.
- Produces a claim ledger, coverage summary, and a marked-up version of your draft.
- Suggests practical fixes: correct a figure, soften an absolute, quote exactly, add a source, or remove a claim.
How It Works
- Provide your draft. Paste the text you want to audit.
- Add your sources. Paste each source text with a short name and, if available, its date.
- Review the evidence. Claude proposes evidence passages for each claim-bearing sentence.
- Run the offline check. The script checks whether the proposed evidence appears in your supplied sources and whether relevant numbers, dates, and quotations match.
- Review the results. Examine the claim ledger, coverage, suggested fixes, and clean draft.
Claim Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Supported | The supplied source contains matching evidence for the claim. |
| Mismatch | A number, date, quotation, or other detail differs from the source. |
| Unsupported | The supplied sources do not contain the proposed evidence. |
| Overstated | The draft makes a stronger claim than the source supports. |
| Weak | The evidence does not adequately support the claim as written. |
| Stale | The source is too old to confidently support a present-tense claim. |
| Altered | A quotation or evidence passage differs from the supplied source. |
Example
Draft

Sources Provided
annual_report — 15 February 2024
Harbor Market opened on 4 March 2021. At the end of 2023 the market employed 48 people.
city_survey — 1 November 2023
Of 1,200 residents surveyed, 62% said they shop at Harbor Market weekly.
Expected Audit Findings
- Opening date — Mismatch: The draft says 2022; the source says 2021.
- Employment — Stale: The source reports 48 employees at the end of 2023, not the current number.
- Survey figure — Mismatch: The draft says 71%; the source says 62%.
- Best in the region — Unsupported: Neither supplied source establishes that everyone agrees or that the market is the best.
The audit should distinguish claims that match the provided evidence from claims that need correction, qualification, or additional sources.

Limitations
ClaimLock checks wording, numbers, dates, and quotations against the sources you provide. It does not independently establish that the sources are true, authoritative, or current.
It does not guarantee that paraphrases preserve meaning. A claim can match source wording while still being misleading in context. Review the evidence and suggested edits before publishing.
ClaimLock is a source-checking assistant, not a guarantee of factual truth or professional legal, medical, or financial advice.
