Nature Skills - Online Skills
Take a paper from raw results to a submission you'd actually send
Nature Skills is a collection of reusable research skills covering each stage of getting published. Instead of one generic "writing helper," it gives you a specialist for every step, and each specialist follows rules pulled straight from published Nature papers and official journal author guidelines, not from style intuition.
What it does
It covers the academic publishing pipeline end to end:
- Figures — multi-panel, publication-ready matplotlib/R figures with correct typography, a semantic colour palette, and editable
.svgoutput. - Writing & polishing — Nature-style English prose (≤30-word sentences, section-aware tense and hedging, British spelling) and manuscript drafting for abstracts, intros, results, and discussions.
- Citations & search — strict Nature/CNS-family citation retrieval with
ENW/RIS/ZoteroRDFexport, plus multi-source literature search across PubMed, CrossRef, and arXiv with DOI/PMID verification. - Review & rebuttal — a referee-perspective pre-submission review (three reports + synthesis) and point-by-point reviewer-response letters with action mapping and traceability.
- Conversions — paper → Chinese journal-club
.pptx, paper → evidence-grounded Chinese patent draft, and full-paper bilingual Markdown readers with figures matched to the text. - Data statements — Data Availability statements, repository plans, and FAIR metadata checks.
It's built for researchers, grad students, and labs who'd rather spend their hours on the science than on formatting, translation, and reference busywork. It's bilingual-aware throughout: Chinese notes and drafts are turned into submission-ready English, not translated clause by clause.
How it works
- Send the paper, draft, or results you're working on, in any language.
- Say what you need — a figure, polished English, a manuscript section, citations, slides, a patent draft, or a reviewer reply.
- You get a finished artifact back:
.svg,.docx,.pptx, or a reference file, ready to use.
Example
Input: a journal-article PDF + the request "make this into a full bilingual Markdown reader."
Output: a complete Markdown reader with the original text and a Chinese rendering side by side, source anchors back to the paper, and each figure placed next to the passage that discusses it.
(Another common request: "Turn this paper into a Chinese journal-club PPT" returns a real .pptx deck with Chinese titles, captions, takeaways, and speaker notes.)
Input formats
- Accepts papers and drafts as PDF, plain text, abstracts, figure legends, or reading notes.
- Works in any language; Chinese input is turned into submission-ready English.
- Accepts raw results, figure data, reviewer comments, DOIs/PMIDs/arXiv IDs, and
.nbib/.ris/.bib/.enwreference files. - Returns ready-to-use
.svg,.docx,.pptx, and reference files, with no intermediate planning documents.
