Rirekisho Review - Check It Before You Send

Paste the 履歴書 or 職務経歴書 you already wrote, and I quote the spots that make a reader stop: dates that switch between 和暦 and 西暦 halfway down, a work history that changes direction mid-list, leftover JIS-era fields, 自己PR wording that slips out of です/ます. Each flag carries the exact excerpt, why it matters, and one short alternative. The review is in English, with your Japanese quoted as written. It does not write the document for you. Free for three requests.

Rirekisho Review — Japanese Resume Second Opinion

Try it free. Three requests.

Paste a draft, read the review, decide after that. Then it is US$4.99 a week for 10
requests.
The free trial lasts one day. Cancel before it ends if you do not want the weekly plan.

What this looks like

You paste this:

You get back this:

Excerpt — 令和3年4月 … 平成29年3月 … 2019年4月
Category — Era-year consistency · Severity — High
Why — The same list uses 和暦 (令和3年, 平成29年) and 西暦 (2019年). Neither system is
wrong, but mixing them hides the order: converted, these lines run 2021 → 2017 → 2019, which
is neither oldest-first nor newest-first.
Suggested fix — pick one system for every date in the document, including the birth date
and the issue date, then re-read the order once converted.

Excerpt — 「…全力を注ぎました!お客様第一で動くのが自分のスタイルだ。」
Category — Keigo / register · Severity — Medium
Why — An exclamation mark and the plain-form ending 「だ」 sit inside otherwise です/ます
text. The shift happens across two adjacent sentences.
Suggested fix — 「前職では売上を伸ばすことに全力を注ぎました。お客様を第一に考えて行動することを心がけて
まいりました。」

Then: a separate ordering finding showing the conversion, what's already fine, and the advisory
note. (A note on the older JIS layout is added when you paste a 履歴書.)

What it checks

  1. Era-year consistency — 和暦 and 西暦 across every date field, including contradictions
that only appear once you convert.
  2. Ordering — 履歴書 oldest-first; 職務経歴書 held in one direction, 編年体 or 逆編年体,
    all the way through.
  3. Format currency — the JIS 履歴書 format was discontinued in July 2020 and no single
mandatory format replaced it. Whether your sheet still carries fields specific to it.
  4. Keigo and register — in 自己PR and 志望動機 only: plain form mixed into polite form,
exclamation marks, stacked honorifics, fixed phrases that read as over-humble.
  5. Job-posting gaps — paste the posting and it lists which of its stated requirements appear
nowhere in your 自己PR or 志望動機. A gap list, not a rewrite.

What it will not do

  • It will not write your rirekisho. It reviews a draft you already have. If you have not
written one, it hands you a checklist and says so plainly.
  • It will not score you. No percentage, no grade, no "this version is stronger than that
one". Severity labels say how clear-cut an inconsistency is, not how good your application is.
  • It will not tell you 和暦 or 西暦 is correct. Both are used. The finding is whether your
own draft is consistent with itself.
  • It will not predict screening outcomes. Nothing here raises or estimates your chance of an
interview, and any tool that claims to is guessing.

Who this is for

People writing a Japanese application themselves — including non-native writers and people
returning to the format after years away — who want the inconsistencies found before a stranger
finds them.

Limits, stated plainly

  • Advisory only. It does not certify a draft or approve it for submission.
  • Conventions vary by source, company, region and generation. Where your target employer
specifies a format, follow that instead.
  • The review comes back in English, with your Japanese quoted exactly as written, so you can see
    which characters are being discussed.
  • It reads what you paste. Paste it as text — it cannot review a photo of a
sheet it cannot read, and it does not open links.
  • Your draft contains personal information. It is quoted only as far as needed to mark a spot.
