Channel Name & Handle Shortlist turns one paragraph about a planned YouTube or short-video channel (topic, audience, tone, language, words to avoid) into a numbered shortlist of 20 name candidates. Each has two handle variants (lowercase, no spaces, 20 characters or fewer), a one-line meaning and checks. It plans before you register anything; it cannot check whether any handle, domain or trademark is actually free - you check that yourself.

Phase 0 — Intake. Needs the topic, the audience and tone, and the name language (plus any other languages to check). Asks at most 3 questions, only if one is missing. Words to avoid are optional.

Phase 1 — Anchors. Topic keywords, tone words, languages, your avoid list, and the working handle and name-length rules, written down so every candidate is judged the same way.

Phase 2 — The list. 20 numbered names in at least four styles (descriptive, coined, metaphor, phrase, compound), each with two handle variants and a one-line meaning.

Phase 3 — Validation. Counts and uniqueness of all 40 handles, name and handle length, a reasoned say-it-aloud test, look-alike characters (l / I / 1, O / 0, rn / m, cl / d), unwanted meanings or sound-alikes in the languages you name, a trademark-resemblance suspicion flag, and your avoid list.

Phase 4 — Reviewer panel. Four reviewers (Say-It-Aloud Listener, Search & Discoverability Reader, Look-Alike & Typo Inspector, Originality & Safety Scout) check the list blind, cross-examine each other, and a verdict tags findings CONFIRMED, CORROBORATED or DISPUTED. Fixes are applied and listed.

Sample output

Real, unedited output from running this Skill on a sample problem:

Input ([HAND-WRITTEN FICTIONAL SAMPLE - invented for testing.]):

I'm starting a short-video channel (YouTube Shorts and Reels) about five-minute tidy-ups for tiny rented apartments - clearing a desk, resetting a kitchen counter, organising a shoe corner without drilling or buying anything new. Audience: renters in their 20s and 30s who feel their space is always a little messy. Tone: calm, gentle, a bit dry-humoured, never preachy. Name in English; some viewers speak Spanish and Korean, so check those too. Please avoid the words "hack", "ultimate", "minimal" and "declutter" (too overused).

Planning only: this cannot check whether any handle, domain or trademark is free. Every handle below is a proposal - you check each one yourself on the platform, a domain registrar and your country's trademark database.

Channel for five-minute tidy-ups in small rented flats - audience: renters in their 20s and 30s - calm, gentle, dry humour - English name, Spanish and Korean checked - 20 candidates - SFW.

## Essentials
- Topic: five-minute tidy-ups for tiny rented apartments (clearing a desk, resetting a kitchen counter, organising a shoe corner without drilling or buying anything new) (given).
- Audience: renters in their 20s and 30s who feel their space is always a little messy (given). Tone: calm, gentle, a bit dry-humoured, never preachy (given).
- Name language: English. Check languages: Spanish and Korean (given). Platforms: YouTube Shorts and Reels (given).
- Words to avoid: hack, ultimate, minimal, declutter (given).
- All essentials are present, so no questions asked.
- (assumed) one channel name for both platforms; (assumed) the name may be 1-3 words; (assumed) the channel might later widen from "tidying" to "small-home living".

## Anchors
- Topic keywords: tidy, reset, small space, rental, five minutes, no drilling.
- Audience and tone: renters 20s-30s; calm, gentle, dry humour, not preachy.
- Name language English; check languages Spanish and Korean (Korean tagged nc = native check needed, because I do not verify it).
- Avoid list (exact): hack, ultimate, minimal, declutter.
- Working handle rule (this Skill's own, not a platform rule): lowercase letters and digits only, no spaces, 20 characters or fewer.
- Working name length limit (this Skill's own): 24 characters including spaces.
- Hint the topic in some names; leave others open so the channel can widen.

Legend: Style D descriptive, C coined, M metaphor, P phrase, K compound of two words. Aloud, Look and Meaning-check are reasoned from text, not heard or seen. nc = Korean not verified, needs a native check. es ok = I found no unwanted meaning or sound-alike in Spanish (a screen, not a guarantee).

## Validation
1. Count and uniqueness: 20 rows numbered 01-20, 20 distinct names, 40 distinct handles, every handle is lowercase letters only (no digits used). Longest handle is 17 characters (leasefriendlytidy, borrowedspacetidy, onesurfaceatatime), under the 20 limit. Pass.
2. Name length: longest is "Small Space Reset" at 17 characters, under 24. Pass.
3. Say-it-aloud (reasoned): one WARN, row 14 (tid-let / tidlit); all others have one natural spelling. Pass with one flag.
4. Look-alike scan (l/I/1, O/0, rn/m, vv/w, cl/d, doubled-letter runs): no rn, vv, cl, digits; WARN on rows 15 and 16 as shown. Pass with two flags.
5. Unwanted meaning or sound-alike: Spanish - none found in 20 names. Korean - not verified, every row tagged nc. This is a screen only; a Korean native speaker should read the top picks.
6. Trademark resemblance: none = 17 rows; watch = rows 01, 08, 13; suspect = none after the change below. I cannot search any register or platform; this is from memory and is not legal advice.
7. Avoid list and SFW: none of hack, ultimate, minimal, declutter appears in any name or handle ("Five Minute" does not contain "minimal"). All names clean. Pass.

Changes made to the draft to pass these checks: row 02 "Small Place Reset" -> "Small Space Reset" (handle had l,l,p,l: three l in four characters); row 09 "Nook Notes" -> "Shelf Notes" (suspect: Nook is a known e-reader brand name); row 14 "Cluttle" -> "Tidlet" (cl can be misread as d); row 16 "Calm Corner Club" -> "Warm Drawer" (rn in "corner" can be misread as m, and cl in "club").

## Reviewer panel
(Separate sub-agents were not available, so the four passes were done independently, in order, each on the validated draft only, before cross-examination. Names below are as they stood in that draft.)

### Independent findings
**Say-It-Aloud Listener**
- L1. Rows 03 "Tidy Shelf", 12 "Tidyish" and 14 "Tidlet" all open with the same "tid-" sound; said quickly in a sentence they blur into one name. Row 12's "-ish" is also an unstressed ending.
- L2. Row 19 "One Surface": "one" is heard as "won"; someone could type "wonsurface".
- L3. Row 07 "Mostly Tidy": the "-stly" cluster is often swallowed in speech ("mosly tidy").

**Search & Discoverability Reader** (from the words only, no data)
- S1. Row 20 "Soft Reset": a common phrase for restarting a device, so a stranger may expect gadget content, and it hints at the topic only for people who already know.
- S2. Row 16 "Warm Drawer": gives a stranger no hint of tidying, and "warm drawer" may also be a kitchen-appliance phrase (general knowledge, not search data).
- S3. 8 of 20 names rest on "tidy" or "tid-" (rows 01, 03, 06, 07, 11, 12, 13, 14): the topic word is right, but the list leans on it too much for the user to pick 3 distinct directions.
- Rows 15 and 18 do not say what the channel is; acceptable, since the list deliberately has more than five names that do not hint the topic.

**Look-Alike & Typo Inspector**
- K1. Row 03 handle "tidyshelf" is one dropped letter from "tidyself" (a real phrase, self-care flavour), and row 09 "shelfnotes" from "selfnotes".
- K2. Row 15 handle B "thelittlelanding": four l in sixteen characters, hard to scan; handle A "littlelanding" has three l in seven.
- K3. Rows 04 and 06 contain words often misspelled ("friendly" as "freindly", "enough" as "enuff").

**Originality & Safety Scout**
- O1. Row 17 "Nail Free Home": in Korean, "nail" is read as the manicure word, so Korean viewers may expect a nail-salon channel (nc).
- O2. Row 20 "Soft Reset": "reset" phrases are very common among wellness and cleaning creators; I cannot verify who uses this one.
- O3. Row 08 "Shoebox Flat": "Shoebox" is a known greeting-card brand name (from memory).
- Rows 01-07, 09-16, 18-19: no brand, show, character, impersonation, SFW or avoid-list issue found after looking at every row.

### Cross-examination
- [Listener #1, rows 03/12/14] no challenge / corroborated by Search #3: "same crowding by eye, 8 of 20 lean on tidy/tid-".
- [Listener #2, row 19] challenged by Search: "'one surface at a time' is a plain idiom; nobody types 'won surface'" / corroborated by Look: "a typed 1surface is also possible".
- [Listener #3, row 07] challenged by Look: "'mostly' is an ordinary word; only speed of speech is affected, the spelling is not" / no corroboration.
- [Search #1, row 20] no challenge / corroborated by Scout #2: same generic-phrase concern.
- [Search #2, row 16] no challenge / corroborated by Scout: "the phrase may also be a product name; I cannot check".
- [Search #3, 8 of 20 on tidy] no challenge / corroborated by Listener #1.
- [Look #1, rows 03/09] no challenge / corroborated by Scout: "'tidyself' would read as a self-care channel, a different topic".
- [Look #2, row 15] no challenge / no corroboration.
- [Look #3, rows 04/06] no challenge / no corroboration.
- [Scout #1, row 17] no challenge / corroborated by Search: "nail searches would, by reasoning, lead to manicure content (not data)".
- [Scout #2, row 20] no challenge / corroborated by Search #1.
- [Scout #3, row 08] challenged by Search: "'shoebox apartment' is a standard idiom for a tiny flat, which is exactly the channel topic; the brand is greeting cards" / no corroboration.

### Verdict
1. **[CORROBORATED]** Row 20 "Soft Reset" is a generic phrase with the wrong first meaning - fix: replaced with "Lightly Kept" (applied).
2. **[CORROBORATED]** Row 17 "Nail Free Home" may read as a manicure channel in Korean - fix: replaced with "No Holes Home" (applied; "No Drill Home" was rejected because "drill" gives a three-in-four l/i/l scan flag).
3. **[CORROBORATED]** Row 16 "Warm Drawer" hints nothing and may be an appliance phrase - fix: replaced with "Second Drawer" (applied).
4. **[CORROBORATED]** Rows 03/12/14 share the "tid-" sound and 8 of 20 names lean on tidy - fix: row 12 "Tidyish" replaced with "Little Order" (applied). Six "tidy" names and "Tidlet" remain, so choose your top 3 from different styles.
5. **[CORROBORATED]** Rows 03 and 09 are one letter from "self" - fix: row 03 -> "Tidy Basket", row 09 -> "Desk Notes" (applied).
6. **[CONFIRMED]** Row 15 handle B had too many l - fix: handle B changed to "tinylanding"; handle A "littlelanding" stays with its WARN (applied).
7. **[CONFIRMED]** Rows 04 and 06 contain misspell-prone words - no row change; see Notes.
8. **[DISPUTED]** Row 19 "One Surface" - one/won and 1surface typing risk vs. the idiom is natural; your call.
9. **[DISPUTED]** Row 07 "Mostly Tidy" - speech cluster vs. ordinary word, spelling unaffected; your call.
10. **[DISPUTED]** Row 08 "Shoebox Flat" - brand-name resemblance (watch) vs. the descriptive idiom for a tiny flat; your call.

### Changes applied
Rows 03, 09, 12, 15 (handle B), 16, 17 and 20 were edited as listed. Phase 3 checks were re-run on those rows: all handles still lowercase letters only and 20 characters or fewer, 40 handles still distinct, no avoid-list word, rows 16 (dd) and 15 (handle A) keep their WARN. Rows 07, 08 and 19 are left as written.

**Recommendation:** Pick your top 3 from different styles, then run the availability steps in Notes; three DISPUTED rows (07, 08, 19) need your decision.

## Notes
- Confirm the (assumed) items: one name for both platforms, 1-3 words, room to widen later.
- Availability is unchecked. For each of your top 3 names: type each handle into the platform's own sign-up or search page, search the name on the platform and in a general search engine, check a domain registrar, and check your country's trademark database. If a handle is taken, ask for a fresh batch rather than adding digits.
- Confirm the platform's current rules (allowed characters, length, reserved words, change limits) on its own page; the "lowercase letters, 20 characters or fewer" rule here is only a working assumption.
- If you pick row 04 or 06, consider also registering the common misspelling ("freindly", "enuff") so viewers who mistype still land on you, if the platform allows it.
- Korean was not verified in any row (nc): have a Korean speaker read your top picks. The sound-alike screen for Spanish is a screen, not a guarantee.
- Planning only: nothing was searched, heard or seen; the trademark flags are surface suspicions, not legal advice, and nothing here predicts views or growth.
- Want a second batch in a different style, a check of names you already have, or a pass in another language?

Use cases

  • Getting a first shortlist of channel names before you buy a logo, banner or domain
  • Checking whether a name is easy to say, spell and type (and does not blur into another word in lowercase)
  • Screening names for unwanted meanings or sound-alikes in the languages your viewers speak
  • Spotting names that look too close to a known brand or channel before you invest in them

FAQ

Can it tell me if a handle or domain is available? No. It cannot check live availability of any handle, domain or trademark; you type each shortlisted handle into the platform, a domain registrar and your country's trademark database yourself.

Does it generate a logo or banner? No. It plans names and handles as text only; it does not generate images or video.

Does it guarantee a name is safe or a good one? No. The trademark flag is a surface suspicion from memory, not legal advice, and nothing here predicts views, growth or ranking. Languages the agent writes poorly are tagged for a native check.

Is it safe for work? Yes. The Skill is SFW-only and will not write offensive words even to explain a flag.
