Insider Radar — SEC Form 4 Insider Buying, Ranked

Insider Radar reads SEC Form 4 filings every morning and surfaces the one signal that matters: insiders buying their own stock on the open market. It filters out grants and option exercises, flags clusters where multiple insiders buy the same ticker, and ranks each by role (CEO/CFO/director/10% owner) and dollar size. Includes notable discretionary insider selling. Not investment advice.

Insider Radar — SEC Form 4 Insider Buying, Ranked

Thousands of Form 4 filings land on SEC EDGAR every trading day. The vast majority are automatic sells, stock grants, and option exercises, and the one thing worth watching gets lost in the pile: insiders putting their own money into their own stock on the open market. Insider Radar reads through all of it before the open and hands you just that.

What it actually does

It keeps only genuine open-market purchases (Form 4 code P) and drops the grants and option exercises that clutter every insider feed. When several different insiders buy the same stock, whether on a single day or across a rolling window, that name moves to the top, because a cluster of buyers is the strongest signal insider data gives you. Each name is scored by who is buying (a CEO or CFO carries more weight than a 10% holder), how much they spent, and how many of them are in on it. If one insider keeps adding over several days, it flags that too.

On the sell side it shows only the discretionary sales that actually mean something and quietly drops the pre-scheduled Rule 10b5-1 sells that are just noise. Add your own tickers and they stay pinned at the top.

Run a fast scan of the latest filings, or a complete sweep of an entire trading day. Output comes as clean text and a shareable HTML brief.

Why pay when EDGAR is free

Because reading the filings is the work, and this does the reading. It parses the XML of every filing, keeps the real buys, groups them by company and by person, strips the planned-sale noise, and ranks what is left by conviction. Free tools tell you a filing happened. This one tells you which ones are worth your attention.

A real morning (full-day scan, 2026-07-17)

Buys detected: 26 issuers / 40 insiders / $488.5M / 5 clusters
1. John Hancock GA Mortgage Trust 4 insiders ★CLUSTER $78.6M
2. ELV (Elevance) CEO+director ★CLUSTER $1.4M
3. GABC 5 directors ★CLUSTER $95K
   ...
Notable discretionary selling: BLK $19.9M, PLMR $8.0M ...

Five clusters surfaced that day, including a four-insider buy at John Hancock GA Mortgage Trust worth $78.6M and Elevance's CEO buying alongside a director. None of that jumps out of a raw filing feed.

Reading the score

A ★CLUSTER means more than one distinct insider bought the same ticker, and that is the line to read first. From there the score rises with the number of buyers, the seniority of who is buying, and the dollars involved. Only true open-market purchases count.

Good to know

Run it before the market opens, and point it at your watchlist if you have one. The fast scan takes about 40 seconds; the full-day sweep covers everything.
