What OBA Analyzes for Every Game

Depending on the competition and the completeness of the available official pregame information, OBA provides the following analysis:

1. Full-Game Outcome and Expected Runs

  • Full-game outcome probabilities and overall game outlook
  • Expected regulation runs for both teams and the combined expected total
  • Likely team scoring ranges and model coverage

2. Score Distribution and Scoring Pace

  • Regulation score distribution peak and its single-score probability
  • Core score zone and its model coverage
  • Low-, medium-, and high-scoring scenarios with their probabilities

3. First Five Innings and Starting Pitchers

  • First-five lead and tie probabilities
  • Expected first-five runs and score distribution peak
  • Starting pitchers’ season performance, recent form, and projected innings

4. Lineups, Bullpens, and Team Form

  • Confirmed starting lineups, roster changes, and player availability
  • Bullpen performance, recent workload, and fatigue
  • Recent team form, run production and prevention, and home-away differences

5. Game Conditions and Analytical Confidence

  • Ballpark, weather, roof status, and scheduling conditions
  • Data confidence, game volatility, and factors that could change the analysis
  • Primary official sources and data retrieval time

The “regulation score distribution peak” is the single score combination with the highest model probability through regulation. The “core score zone” represents the concentrated range of neighboring high-probability scores. Both are presented alongside expected runs and likely scoring ranges to provide a more complete view of how the game could unfold.

Based on the Latest Official Data

For each requested game, OBA finds and cross-checks the latest available official information, including:

  • Official schedule, venue, start time, and game status
  • Announced starting pitchers
  • Current-season team scoring, run prevention, and overall performance
  • Starting pitchers’ season statistics and recent appearances
  • Recent team form and bullpen usage
  • Confirmed starting lineups, roster moves, and player availability
  • Ballpark conditions, weather forecasts, and roof status
  • Competition rules and postseason formats applicable to the current season

All time-sensitive information includes its source and update time. If official sources differ, OBA prioritizes information published by the competition organizer, league, or participating teams.

OBA does not use sportsbook odds, market movement, public betting recommendations, or other gambling-related signals as model inputs.

Adjusted for Each Competition Environment

Scoring environments, schedule structures, and extra-inning rules differ across countries, leagues, and international competitions.

Before each analysis, OBA confirms the league, season, and competition stage, then adjusts its analytical settings for the applicable environment, including:

  • League and competition scoring environments
  • Regulation innings
  • Tie rules
  • Extra-inning limits
  • Tiebreak runner rules
  • Doubleheader rules
  • Special regular-season, postseason, and international tournament formats

MLB, NPB, KBO, CPBL, the World Baseball Classic, and WBSC Premier12 are analyzed using settings appropriate to their respective environments. OBA does not apply one MLB-based model to every competition.

Confidence Adjusted to Data Completeness

OBA adjusts the depth of its analysis and confidence rating according to the completeness, reliability, and recency of the available official pregame information.

When the starting pitchers, starting lineups, bullpen status, and game conditions are confirmed, OBA can provide a more complete analysis. If important information has not yet been announced, the report will:

  • Clearly identify unconfirmed information
  • Explain how the missing information could affect the analysis
  • Widen the expected run and score ranges when appropriate
  • Adjust the analytical confidence rating
  • Avoid filling gaps with unconfirmed player or game information

The confidence rating reflects the completeness and reliability of the available official information. It does not mean that the projected outcome is certain, nor does it represent a prediction hit rate.
