Amazon Competitor Intelligence Agent

Amazon Competitor Intelligence Agent

Stop guessing at competitor strategy. This skill runs a full pipeline: enter a product URL or description, and it researches real competitors, compares pricing, mines actual reviews for buyer complaints, finds competitor weaknesses and keyword gaps, then builds a differentiation strategy and writes the final listing — all grounded in real data. Safeguard: it never invents competitor prices, reviews, or stats; if data can't be retrieved, it asks you for it instead of making it up.

Most listing tools start with your product. This one starts with the market.

What it does

Give it a product URL or a description of what you're selling, and it runs the full competitive intelligence pipeline that usually takes a seller hours of manual digging:

  1. Understands your product — features, price point, target buyer
  2. Researches real competitors — 3-5 genuine competing listings, not a padded list
  3. Compares pricing — where you sit relative to the market
  4. Mines actual reviews — pulls recurring complaints from real review text, not guesses
  5. Identifies competitor weaknesses — quality, pricing, listing quality, service gaps
  6. Finds keyword gaps — terms competitors use that your listing is missing (and vice versa)
  7. Surfaces buyer pain points — a prioritized list of what buyers actually want and aren't getting
  8. Builds a differentiation strategy — concrete positioning angles tied to real research, not generic advice
  9. Writes the final listing — using the strategy and keyword gaps as the backbone, not an afterthought

You can run the whole pipeline in one pass, or just the parts you need — see Modes below.

Why it's safe to use

Competitive intelligence is only useful if it's real. A fabricated competitor price or an invented review complaint isn't just unhelpful — it can lead to a pricing or positioning decision based on something that never happened.

This skill is built around one hard rule: every specific claim about a competitor — price, review content, ranking, feature, keyword — must trace back to something you provided or something actually retrieved via live search in that conversation.

In practice, that means:

  • If live web tools are available, it fetches real listing pages and reads real review text rather than guessing at what reviewers "probably" said.
  • If tools aren't available, it says so plainly and asks you to paste competitor URLs, listing text, or review excerpts — it will not fill the gap with a plausible-sounding invention.
  • Every finding is labeled by confidence: Confirmed (directly observed), Pattern across sources (seen repeatedly, with a count), or Single data point (true but not necessarily representative) — so you always know how much weight to put on a claim.
  • The final listing only makes claims about your product that you've actually confirmed — a competitive gap is never used as an excuse to invent a feature your product doesn't have.

If the research doesn't support a clean differentiation angle, it says so directly instead of manufacturing one.

Modes

Mode Best for What you get
Full Intelligence Report Launching a new product or doing a full competitive review The entire pipeline in one report: competitor landscape, pricing, review mining, weaknesses, keyword gaps, pain points, strategy, and final listing
Competitor Weakness & Review Mining You already know your competitors and just want the complaint/weakness analysis A focused breakdown of recurring complaints, synthesized weaknesses, and prioritized pain points
Listing Generation from Existing Research You already have competitor research and just want the strategy + listing A differentiation strategy plus a finished, launch-ready listing

Example input → output

Input:

"I sell a stainless steel reusable water bottle, insulated, 32oz, $24.99. Here are 3 competitor URLs: [links]. Run the full report."

Output (excerpt):

## 5. Competitor Weaknesses
- Two of three competitors have recurring complaints about the lid seal failing
after ~6 months (pattern across 5 of 14 reviews read)
- One competitor's listing has thin, generic bullet points with no mention of
temperature retention duration — a gap your listing can fill if you have real numbers

## 8. Differentiation Strategy
1. Lead with lid durability — confirmed your bottle uses a different sealing
mechanism (per your product info), and this is the #1 complaint across competitors
2. Add specific temperature retention claims — competitors leave this vague;
fill this only if you can confirm actual test numbers

FAQ

Does it actually browse competitor listings, or just guess based on category knowledge?
When live web search/fetch tools are available, it actually researches and reads real listing pages. It never substitutes category-level guessing for real research — if it can't retrieve real data, it tells you and asks for it instead.

What if I don't have a live browsing tool available?
Just paste in competitor URLs, listing text, or review excerpts you already have. The skill works from whatever real data is available — it just won't invent what it can't see.

How many competitors does it research?
Typically 3-5 genuine competitors — same core function, similar price tier, same target buyer. It avoids padding the list with loosely-related products just to hit a number.

Will the generated listing include things my product doesn't actually have?
No. Every claim in the final listing has to trace back to something you confirmed about your own product. A competitive gap is never used as license to invent a feature.

Can I just get the final listing without the full research report?
Yes — use Listing Generation mode if you already have your own competitor research, or Full Intelligence Report mode if you want everything from scratch.
