Truthful CV
Tailor your CV to any job without inventing anything.
Most AI CV tools make you sound impressive by adding numbers and claims you never made. Recruiters notice, and interviewers ask. Truthful CV works the other way round: it first records what you actually did, then builds every CV only from facts you have confirmed. Every line traces back to a source, so you can defend it in an interview.

How it works
- Fact bank first. Upload your latest CV and, if you are a student, your transcript. The agent extracts every role, project, course and skill, and marks each fact as unverified until you confirm it.
- Boundary interview. For each role and project it asks what you really did: built from scratch or extended existing code? In production or only tested? Where does each number come from? Your answers become rules the CV must respect, such as "keep on a fork of whenever this project appears".
- Plan, then draft. For a job description, it maps every requirement to direct evidence, transferable evidence, or a gap, and shows you the plan before writing anything.
- Two approvals. Nothing reaches your final CV, and nothing is written to your fact bank, until you approve it.
- Deliver. Your CV (DOCX and PDF when your environment can build them, otherwise clean text ready for your template), a change log, a gap report and the 3 stories you are most likely to be asked about. Your fact bank and application notes are saved as files in your own folder.

The agent will not write "Built Tableau dashboards" if you answer D. It leaves the gap in the gap report and suggests how to address it instead.

Applying somewhere else? The agent says so, asks what you know about local conventions, and uses the most conservative choices.
What it will never do
- Invent metrics or imply scale you cannot support ("thousands of users", "production-grade")
- Upgrade your role ("Contributed to" becoming "Led")
- Add skills to your Skills section that nothing in your record supports, even if the job asks for them
- Convert your GPA to another scale, or present a projected honours class as awarded
- Drop a qualifier that keeps a claim true to make a line fit
What you need
- An AI agent that can load skills, such as Claude Code, Codex, Hermes or OpenClaw. Truthful CV is a one-time download that runs inside your own agent, using your own model access. There are no hourly fees and no usage limits.
- Optional, for DOCX and PDF output: Python with
python-docxand LibreOffice (the agent checks and tells you if anything is missing). Without them you still get the full CV as clean text. - Updates are free: every future version of Truthful CV is included.
Tips for a good session
- Work in one folder. Start your agent in a folder for your job search. The agent saves
fact-bank.mdthere, keeps a backup before each change, and puts CVs and notes inapplications/. - The first session takes the longest, because the fact bank is built and checked with you. Later sessions start from your saved fact bank and go straight to tailoring.
- Answer questions briefly. Questions come numbered with lettered options, so "1A, 2C" is enough.
FAQ
Do I need a fact bank to get a review? No. A review works on your CV alone. Tailoring and new versions need a fact bank, which the agent builds with you.
Can I share it with friends? Your licence covers your own use only; please do not redistribute the package.
Will it write my cover letter? No. It focuses on CVs and application forms. Cover letters and LinkedIn copy are out of scope.
Can it guarantee I get an interview? No tool can. It makes your CV clearer, better matched and fully defensible.
What languages? Chat in English or Chinese; the CV itself is always in English.
Privacy
- Truthful CV runs inside your own AI agent. Your CV, transcript, job descriptions and fact bank stay in your own folder and go only to the model provider your agent already uses.
- The publisher never receives your documents or conversations, and the agent is instructed never to upload your files anywhere or put your personal details into a web search.
